| Q: What is your
favorite style? |
 |
| A: Modern
craftsman- I describe it as modern design principals with
clean lines and little ornament, but with a handcrafted/artisan
feel. I am also intrigued by organic inspired design and design
with meaning and relationship to it's environment. |
 |
| Q:
What design/work of yours most embodies your style? |
 |
| A: Exposed
elements, either stained concrete, or natural colored woods
that have interesting grains or colors. There is an inherent
beauty in a material’s natural look or an interesting
connection detail that I like to make a feature element of
my designs. |
 |
| Q: What or who
has most influenced your work? |
 |
| A: Frank
and Frank. Lloyd Wright, opened up the harmonious interplay
between nature and architecture and Geary, unleashed the limitless
possibilities that architecture could aspire to take on. I
try not to become to influenced by the latest trends in design
and stay true to my own inspirations without copying other
details. Although it’s hard not to get excited about
a cool detail that you see and think about how to incorporate
a variation of it into your next project. |
 |
| Q: What are examples
of art and design that you like and why? |
 |
| A: My favorite
part of a project is selecting the art. My tastes in art are
contemporary pieces. Primarily because the images are more
about colors and textures than a subject matter. It’s
more complementing to the design if the piece complements
the rest of the design instead of making it’s own statement.
Although, there are times when a bold art statement is warranted
and then become the focal design element that the rest of
the design embraces. |
